Pretty Paper

I'm showing off my little glass front cabinets this week...
They really are one of the main reasons I bought the house

I was in Hobby Lobby and saw this awesome paper.
I don't really scrapbook to much anymore so
I had to find a place for it!

I love how it turned out...

I just used some 2 sided tape...

So when I get tired of it I just pull it out.

 My only question is....

It is a little dark so I put a string of battery operated LED lights in the back of each shelf.
But they don't really add all that much light....

I'd like a little more light, but there is no way to add electricity to the cabinet .... Do you guys have any ideas?
I'm all ears.

Put a lid on it!

Or more like...
How about a cloche!?

Are you guys so tired of the granny squares? I'm sorry!
I 'm a little consumed with them right now...

I feel like I work on them non-stop.

Just trying to get the thing done so
I can take it to Spokane with me.

I'm kind of excited about it. I think that it's going to be kinda cute, in kitschy way.

I think sweet daughter is going to like it too!

I'm joining:
Both very fun parties well worth perusal.

Haboob! ... Bless you!

These are a few pictures that I took early this morning in our
back yard.

These are actually pretty selective as our back yard is mess from last night's storm that rolled in. If you would like to know what a haboob is.... click here.  It's a video of a dust storm that we had last July.

Look at those teeny little ants just working away so early in the morning...

Lantana... about the only thing that really grows well all summer long here.
One little flower consisting of many other tiny flowers...

I did get all of the granny squares bordered and blocked. I just have to attach them and then do another pretty border around the whole thing. I think that I'm actually going to get it done in time to take to sweet daughter's when I go visit in a few weeks.

Well I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday. We are battening down the hatches, patio furniture and umbrellas as we are watching another haboob roll in.

Bargins! And Then... Not So Much....

A few posts ago,  I think that I mentioned that I was able to wonder aimlessly through my favorite Antique mall the Brass Armadillo. It was my vacation and this was how I chose to spend it.

I got a couple of little items that really make my heart sing!
One was this Blue Danube canister that I took the lid off of.  It's perfect for this corner and my wooden spoons.  It was pretty inexpensive so I went ahead and picked it up.

Then as I was walking out I saw this little number.... Do you see it in all it's prettiness? This is where it sits on our counter.

Oh my goodness! I saw it and simply couldn't step away. It is so perfect my kitchen!! I've wanted a scale for so long but never found one until I saw this one!

With the vintage black finish and rose centerpiece ...
Who could say no?
Made in Sweden it measures accurately in Kilos and pounds.

I'm not here to brag about a super bargain basement price... Because she weren't cheap!
But she's worth every penny that I paid!

I'm going to be joining:

Critter Cats LOVE Forts!

Our 3 little old kitties get to go out everyday... thanks to my husband who stays outside with them.
That way they get some fresh air and we don't have to worry about any of the neighborhood strays coming in and picking fights.
Plus, we don't let them roam the neighborhood.

One of the things that he started doing everyday was making a little fort for them. It's just an old sheet draped over the water fountain and a couple of our chairs.

The cats LOVE this... I'm serious! They will go over to the area and look at him until he puts the whole thing together.  It is so funny to watch. If he isn't right on top of it they will sit there and look at him and pout.

Yes! It's true! We love our critters...

And they might be a little spoiled...

Now come on?!
Don't you wish you could pass out like this?

I wanted to thank you for all the wonderful and helpful suggestions regarding the book.
I was going to take Michele's hint and I spent several hours looking for the book on audio. What I found was one single copy for all of Phoenix at the Public Library. With 4 people waiting for it. Then I thought that I would just buy it, but it was almost $50 and almost 60 hours in length. YIKES! So I finally decided that I would take Melissa and April's advice. Read the book and skip some of the over-done descriptions. I also took Lisa's advice and ordered the Liam Neeson version of the movie.... I'm thinking that will help me understand the characters a little better. Plus it looks really good!

I figure if I read 25-30 pages a day I can get it done... I've got 42 days.

Anyway... You guys ROCK!
Thanks!

What is The Best Time of The Week?

I think EARLY Saturday Morning.

It is the most calm and peaceful time of the week. It smells like coffee and toast!
When I was young, I would have chosen Friday night, for all the obvious reasons. Now, Friday after work I try to get home early and get my home clean, and smelling fresh so that I can enjoy it the rest of the weekend.
I still had four loads of this to do this morning...
but that is now done and I'm free to play!

There is going to be a little of this...

And a whole lot of this!

~*~
And have I mentioned? I'm supposed to have this read by the 4th Monday in August...

It's 1100 pages... Anyone have any ideas?
I'm really struggling getting into it.

Oh... and the other thing about about Saturday morning....
that second cup of coffee!
~*~
It's 12:30 and husband is taking his first nap of the weekend. :)  Sweet!
What about you all?
Do you have a favorite time of the week?

Happy Wednesday!

Oh! Hello!
It's Wednesday and we are half way through the week.
I hope you are having a good one!

Me and my cup-a-joe!
How silly... but I thought my mug looked so pretty with my shirt.... he he he.
Anyway! Have a lovely one.

Its The End of Vacation!

Hi Ya!

Thank you everyone for joining in for Fresh-Cut-Friday. You all really out did yourselves! I really do love seeing all the pretty pictures of your gardens and arrangements. Thank you so much for sharing them here!

I'm sad to report that my little mini vacation is over. I had so many plans to get so much done and man! It just didn't happen.  I did do some antiquing. Brass Armadillo had a 15% percent off of everything sale... I actually got some great stuff that I'll be showing you in a later post.

I helped a friend paint her kitchen a gorgeous shade of light, mustard, yellow.  It turned out to be a lovely color, especially with her black toile. Very French! That was fun and motivating to. Makes me want to get some stuff done around here.

I also got all the basic granny squares done for daughter's afghan.
All 70 of them! Thank you very much!
Hubs said... "eh... yer really rackin' up a body count there... "
So I put his brilliant gift of observation to good use.
He actually helped me pick out the border colors. He has a good eye for that kind of thing.
It really is going to be darling!
I love, love, LOVE the colors!

So now I just have to do the borders on each one and then whip them together. And finally do a border on the whole thing. This has been a really fun project. I'm kind of excited to see it finished.

Anyway... I hope you all are enjoying your Sunday evening and have a wonderful week!
