Indoor Plants.... I just can't....

When I was at the nursery the other day I picked up a couple of plants.

If you know me, you know that I have 2 huge brown thumbs!
Indoor plants and I do not get along.
But, that said,  I've recently really had a hankering to have some
indoor greenery.  The real stuff. You know what I mean?

These were called succulents. Seriously!
They didn't have a label.  The staff at the nursery were
great so I ran a couple of questions by some one that was
out watering.

I asked if they would be a good indoor plant and the lady said
yes, but make sure that you "DON'T OVER WATER THEM!"
I said " Oh so you mean like only once a week."
She said "No. I mean like once every 3 weeks."

Duly noted!
I'll let you know how that rolls out.
Wish me luck!

I also stopped at Goodwill after work and found this sweet little Homer Laughlin
covered casserole to put them in.

We'll see.....

Peaceful Green Oasis ....

I had a site visit down town and was headed back to work to put together the quote....
When I drove by this nursery and thought....
"You know,  I have driven by here a million times and I have heard so many people
talk about what a great nursery it is and it's not even 80 degrees out...
you should stop. Oh! Dang! I just missed the turn....that's okay, go around the block"

Yes, it really was a choppy, dot dot dot, run on thought.
That is how I process and make decisions.
So, I did go around the block, stop in, and thought I would share my little trip with you.

Whitfill Nursery started right here in 1943 and has been family owned and
operated ever since.

This is such a pretty place in the middle of a residential area.
The variety is amazing and all the staff is so helpful and knowledgeable.

Supplies..... look at how thick that wall is. I think its real adobe.

An aviary with 2 HUGE parrots and lots of cockatoos.
Goats and chickens too.

A spot or two to sit and think or just enjoy the prettiness.

A vintage truck vignette.

If your ever in the area, you should stop in.

Happy Friday to you!

I wanted to say something about bible journaling.
I have already shared the why and how here.
Now, I want to talk about something else.

Every time I chat with someone about my journaling, I always hear the same thing!

"But I'm not artsy." or "I could never learn to draw like you do."
And every time I hear that I say the same thing. "You don't have to
be able to draw."
 I always mean it.

While these are a few of my favorites, I didn't start out doing pages like these.
Some of my first pages are very much "not pretty."
These are after some practice, and a lot of trial and error. And the truth of the matter is I have
no art training, at all! Its just something that I discovered that I really enjoy.
And obviously the more you practice the better you get.

But the reality is that, if you want to journal,  you have to start. And you need to start somewhere.
If I'm perfectly honest, I would tell you that I wish I didn't have those "experiment" pages in my
bible. But then I wouldn't have spent that time with the Lord in his word and I truly believe that he has blessed my time that I spend in the bible.

So let me show what I'm talking about.

Here are a few pages that I did using only my old scrapbook supplies.

This page (which I love) is nothing but scrapbook paper, (cross) Stamp (the wood grain background) and stickers (crown, roses, and letters)

This one has some simple lettering but the heart is a stamp, the parenthesis are scrapbook elements, and the black stripe with polkadots is washi tape.

This one is the most simple one yet... a sticker and washi tape.
I hope this helped to take some of the fear out of Bible Journaling.  Remember, we all want
beautiful pages, but that isn't the reason that you start bible journaling. Its to study His word and life and to try to be more like Him.
