Workin' it out
Hey friends!
I'm up to no good and playing in the dishes again.
It's my favorite part of entertaining.
I love having lots of time to plan and work it all out.
Today I'm trying different table settings for Thanksgiving.
Somethings I know I will use, as we have enough for 12.
The Blue Danube
The Threshold gold flat ware that I got from Target.
(so glad I picked these up)
And I'm love love Loving! The navy buffalo check napkins
that I got in the dollar spot at Target.
What I'm still playing with are the chargers and placemats.
The wood chargers look rustic. Don't you think?
Adding the orange napkins really brings warmth to the setting.
I'm really liking this one.... But then ....
Who knows!
It could end up totally different!
I picked up some DARLING little white pumpkins..... hhmmm.

Happy Thanksgiving!!
And so the count down begins!
Are you ready?
We are. Actually we aren't hosting this year so things are
simple. I am taking a few dishes but that is so much easier
than having everyone over.
I thought that I would share one last Thanksgiving tablescape with you.
If you come by often you will notice some of the same things
and some different things.
But really it is always about using what you have in different ways.
I love it when I don't have to buy anything and I can still
end up with a totally different table.
The centerpiece is made up bits and pieces of all of my fall
decor. The bouquets are fall bouquets that I bought several years ago
for a fall bridal shower that I hosted.
NO! I don't save everything... just a lot.
Little wooden Indians and Pilgrims purchased at Michaels.... years and
years ago.
I hope you and your family have a Wonderful, Blessed, Safe and
Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving!
It's HERE!
Can you believe it? Again I ask you! "Where did the year go?"
I hope that you are having great week and that you are enjoying all that you have to be greatful for.
I've been thinking...
I'm greatful for so many things. But what am I greatful for this year that I wasn't greatful for last year? Thinking.... Thinking....
Another year of being married to my wonderful husband.
Another year of good health.
Another year of wonderful Family and Friends.
Another year of blogging!
Sorry, that was a cop out.
Thnking again.... pause...
I picked up crochet and I'm really greatful for the relaxation that that brings.
Some old wonderful friends moved back to town.
AND I got to be published!
I'll leave you with the same question...
Can you list 3 things that you are greatful for this year, that you weren't greatful for last year?
P.S. I have started a new project... more to come!
I'll be joining Marty for Table Top Tuesday!

Table Scape Tuesday! Forth for me!

It's Table Scape Tuesday and I am participating for the forth time!
We had 2 tables for Thanksgiving! I'm going to show the next one next week. This one is the brown table. Very traditional colors.
There are those little brown lanterns that I used on my fall tea table a month ago. I didn't get the Godiva chocolate turkeys this year... alas...they were $6 each. It just seemed extravagant. So each place had a little pumpkin truffle instead.
The amber water goblets and soup bowls came from Wall Mart. The bowls were on clearance the day before Thanksgiving for $1.50 each. Sweet! Did anybody else find that the Thanksgiving stuff cleared out fast?
The dishes are Antique Spode. The pattern is called Buttercup. They were my Great Aunts. I love it that she left them to me! I've been able to pick up pieces here and there.

Next week I will show you the Blue and White table that I did.

Smoky and Creamy Corn Soup
This beautiful Corn Soup was on our table for Thanksgiving!

Smoky and Creamy Corn Soup
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper seeded and coarsely chopped
1 celery stalk, coarsely chopped
1 (16oz) bag frozen roasted corn kernels
(I can't ever find these. So I just use regular frozen corn kernels )
4 cups vegetable broth
1/2 teaspoon chipotle chili powder

1. Heat the oil in a large nonstick saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery: cook, stirring frequently, until lightly brown, about 8 minutes.

2. Add the corn, 1 cup of the broth, and the chili powder; bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, until the vegetables are softened, bout 3 minutes. Let the mixture cool about 5 minutes. Pour the mixture in batches into a food processor or blender and puree.
Add this sparingly until you taste it. You may not like as much as the recipe calls for. But it is the secret ingredient.
3. Return the mixture to the pan. Add the remaining 3 cups broth and cook, stirring occasionally, until heated through, about 10 minutes.
Serves 4
Prep time 10 minutes
Cook time 25 minutes
This was very popular Thanksgiving day. My brother had the brilliant idea to add the left over turkey and turn it into a turkey corn chowder.... YUMMY! And here is the best part! I got this off of WeightWatchers.com. It is a core recipe. Unfortunately it was about the only thing that was lo cal.... I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
