A Simple Fall Table

 We actually had some folks over for dinner a few weeks ago and I got a chance to use my 

new Spode Jumbo Tea Cups.

The centerpiece was my 3 tier server full of acorns and mini pumpkins. 

With 2 little lanterns on either side.

Simple!

 

Perfect for soup!

I had been eying these sweet little numbers for a while,

but thought they were a little extravagant... 

 

My husband is really good about sending me an Amazon gift card 

every now and then.... I had been saving them up and

finally decided that it was time to spend them!

 So glad I did. :)

Table Scape Tuesday!

Today I am sharing some table scapes from last years Christmas Tea and from our Christmas Eve Dinner. The pictures aren't that great, but I haven't had time to put together a table with my Christmas Dishes.

I usually host a Ladies Tea for one of the Ladies Bible Studies at my church called Tea and Comfort. These ladies are from all different backgrounds. They are typically in some sort of transition in their home life. Abuse, abandonment, teen pregnancy, financial, homeless and just all kinds of hard times. The tea is just a way to bring a little "special" to the Christmas Season for them. Every year there are about 20 to 30 ladies. It is a lot of work and my sweet husband helps me. I couldn't do it with out him.

Here is a cute table for two....My sweet Mom cross stitched this Christmas tablecloth.

The tables are always a little crowded.... and I have to serve it buffet style.

I didn't host it this year for the first time in 5 years. My Mom has been in the hospital and there just isn't the time for the extras. I really missed doing the party. I think that I always end up with the biggest blessing. That's the way it is with serving.

This is our Christmas Eve Table from last year. Pretty simple. But still special. I am so impressed at how chargers make such a huge difference.

I love the idea of place cards and place card holders, but I hate making anybody feel like they have to sit somewhere. So I used all the names of the reindeer.

Christmas Eve is simple but busy for us. Candle Light Service, light dinner, then PRESENTS!

Today I am sharing my Blue and White table from Thanksgiving . You can click on any of the pictures to enlarge them and get more detail.

This table is the bargain table... really! Almost everything was a bargain.

Table clothe... A navy queen size sheet. I wanted a plan smooth navy tablecloth, but couldn't find one. So I just bought a plan basic sheet.

The dishes are Johnson Bros. These are on sale all the time at TJ Max. The bowls are old Princess House.

The water goblets are from my mom. They were a wedding present 50 years ago. I have no idea what the brand is but they are very heavy.

Table Scape Tuesday! Forth for me!

It's Table Scape Tuesday and I am participating for the forth time!

We had 2 tables for Thanksgiving! I'm going to show the next one next week. This one is the brown table. Very traditional colors.

There are those little brown lanterns that I used on my fall tea table a month ago. I didn't get the Godiva chocolate turkeys this year... alas...they were $6 each. It just seemed extravagant. So each place had a little pumpkin truffle instead.

The amber water goblets and soup bowls came from Wall Mart. The bowls were on clearance the day before Thanksgiving for $1.50 each. Sweet! Did anybody else find that the Thanksgiving stuff cleared out fast?

The dishes are Antique Spode. The pattern is called Buttercup. They were my Great Aunts. I love it that she left them to me! I've been able to pick up pieces here and there.

This is the last table from the Fall Progressive Tea. Both of my dinner tables seat 6. So I had to get creative for the 3 hostess. We sat at the coffee table in the Living room.

The blue glasses you probably recognize from Target? Well I got them for 40% off. Those pretty square plates were from an Antique store locally. One of the plates had a tiny chip. So I asked the dealer if I could have a percent off of that one. She gave me 20% off of all four! What a deal! I wish that I would have taken a close up of the detail on them. They are so pretty!

And of course you recognize that little Tea Pot from Marshalls/Homegoods!

Another table from my Progressive Fall Tea. These are my Grandmother's Dishes... Aren't they pretty? They are beautiful at Christmas time too.

I mix my expensive stuff with my bargains. It insures that the bargains look as good as the expensive stuff. The napkin rings are from Walgreen's. I purchased them about 10 years ago.
Yet another truth about me.... I don't get rid of much. : )

The little lanterns are from Hallmark. They were on sale the day before Thanksgiving about 5 years ago.

This tablescape would be great for Thanksgiving. I will probably go to the Godiva Chocolate Store and buy little foil wrapped chocolate turkey's and put them at each place setting.

A couple of weeks ago I hosted the savory portion of a Progressive Tea Party at my home. This is just like a progressive dinner only with Tea. One person does the savories, one does the scones and one does the sweets.

We had 12 ladies and it was a great time! It was a great way to show off our pretty things.


After having done this once.... I would recommend choosing homes that are close together. We had quite a drive in between each home. But other than that, this was a lot of fun! I would do it again in a heart beat!
