Tea Staining

Have you ever tried tea staining before? It is one of my favorite things to do. I remember reading about it in Victoria Magazine when I was in my twenties (long, long ago). I thought it was one of the coolest things ever. So Easy!

Hot water and tea bags. The more tea, the more time,
the darker the stain. I did these in our kitchen sink.
Pretty simple stuff.

I can't wait to show you how these turned out. I had 4 linen hand towels. One really old and 3 pretty new. I wanted them to all be the same antique white. They are all going to be hung in our front bathroom on a little cabinet that I still have to put together. Along with some vintage style should look pretty cute. I'll show you when it's done. That is if it looks good. If you never hear about it... then you know it didn't turn out... SIGH... :)

I love to tea dye although I'm not terribly patient with it - can't wait to see how your tea towels turn out. -amy
PS A belated Happy Birthday - hope it was wonderful!

I love to tea and coffee stain. It gives such a wonderful creamy color to most everything. Can't wait to see how they turned out. Hugs, Marty

Hi! I'm stopping over from Tablescapes Thursday! I just discovered this meme and love it! what great ideas I'm finding among all the people who add their link!
I love your post on tea staining towels... I NEVER thought of staining fabric... only paper...
I must try this.
I just love towels, vintage ---and I especially love those soft, gauzy flour sack towels.

I love to tea stain, sometimes I even do it with coffee too (if I'm looking for a darker stain).

Can't wait to see the cabinet!

Hiya Liz! Just catching up with you~
Happy Birthday!!

I enjoy a bit of teastaining myself. Just did some lace for my shoes and it turned out so pretty. Can't wait to see your finished project!

LOVE the cherry "towel sculpture" as my husband calls them. Reminds me... I want him to hang a towel bar for me as well, heee!

The pine shelf your hub made long ago is wonderful. Such lovely things displayed there. The pic of your mom on her dad's shoulders is awesome. And I love how you have the mice looking up at your daughter's pic.

Oh Liz!
I love tea staining. It is so much fun. I recently stained an old torn chinelle bedspread that I made into pumpkins. Loved it, and it was so much fun. No two colors are the same.

I so look forward to meeting you at the AZ blogger luncheon. See you Friday. Country hugs, Sherry
