A Little Bitty Girl Bear! (easy knit)

Hey there!
I hope you are having a great week!

Just thought I would share with you my little bitty
girl bear that I made. I made a little boy version
previously. You can see that here.

I took some along-the-way pictures so you can see how
I figured it out. It is just a garter stitch with increases,
decreases, cast on and cast off maneuvers.

I can't really read a knitting or a crochet pattern.
So it has to be a pretty simple concept for me to get thru it.

As you can see, it is just one piece.
I knit one side and then when I get to the top of the head,
I just start the whole thing in reverse.

I'm so happy she turned out. My daughter
wants to give her to one of her friends for
a shower gift.

Isn't she cute?
I stood her up next to a coffee cup so you can
see how tall she is.

I mean, look at that face!

One Last Homemade Christmas Gift.....

A scrap of this.... a bit of that....

There's still time....

One last gift.

Easy instructions are right here.

I have to say that the two ladies that I shared these with, LOVED them.
I think I'm going to have to make some for myself!

Merry Christmas!

Let's Play Miscellaneous Catch-up!

Hey Everyone,
Do you ever have one of those posts that you just have some stuff to say...
It isn't important...
Just things that you are behind on mentioning.

Well this is that post!

Several weeks ago I got to go to a sweet friend's birthday party.
Now, she is one of the most creative people I have ever met!
No seriously!

So I wanted to make her something fun, smart and different.
Just like her

This is what I came up with.

Needless to say, being the kind person she is,  the next time I saw her, she had it
on. And it really looked great darling on her

We were chatting and she said that I should make a few and put them on Etsy.
Then my daughter said " I told you mom! Those are really cute!"
And of course my husband who is always encourageing me said
"they are right! Just try it!"

 So! I did!

I also have some of these on there.
I think they would be darling on Christmas packages.
There are also some things that you can custom order as well.

Let me know what you think, please.

And finally...
Here are the Colors of the Week.
I got a little behind.

 Color of the Week #9
OPI - Berlin There Done That (light gray)
OPI - You don't  Know Jacques! (accent nail)

Color of the week #10
OPI - I Knead Sour Dough

I'll be joining Inspire me Tuesday

SO!
That's that!
Have a great week!

Lil' Boo Bear!

Warning! I'm tickeled with this little project!
I seriously can't believe I actually designed something....
Okay... "Design" is a loose term.

I had the privilege of being invited to baby shower for a sweet little baby boy last Saturday.
I wanted to make a sweet, very soft, but tough and squishy little bear that could survive
a little boy.
I think I met my goal.

I could not find a pattern that I liked but that was simple enough for even me.

So I looked at everything I could find and came up with this lil guy.

I hope I recorded all of my steps accurately... I really want to make a Lil' Pink Bear.

One of the other things that the hostess did, that I think was so smart, was that we were to bring
a book instead of a card! Isn't that cute?
Well, I thought to so.
I sent my hubs out to pick the perfect book for a little boy and this is what he came
home with.

Perfect!

Well, that is it for now.
We are getting all of the Fall decor out and preparing to celebrate
our family September Birthdays.

How do you feel about:
Loaded Potato Soup
Wilted Spinach Salad
Meatloaf
Fresh Green Beans

and for dessert?
Salted Caramel Brownies
(oh my)

As a side note: I would be thrilled if you took a look at my little etsy shop!
There are some great gift ideas and also some custom order items.

E is for Easy and E-reader Cover

Hi Love-r-lees!
Are you having a fabulous week?
Do you have a fun weekend planned?
I do hope so!

I have a little project to share that I designed.

I wanted to share it because I really just love a simple weekend project
and I suspect that some of you do too!

This is another one of those "oops, I didn't right it down" designs.
But that is ok, because it really is pretty self explanatory.
Just cast on enough stitches to knit a piece of fabric big enough to fold over.
I think mine was 55 (?)
You can really figure this out by using your reader or tablet
and eyeballing it.

Once you get the length you want, start decreasing on each side for your fold over flap.
I crocheted a really simple double crochet edge on the flap to give it a little more
of a finished edge.

There is one L-shaped seam and a chain stitch loop for your big button.

That's it!
Let me know if that is enough instruction for you to go on. If you have questions
let me know.  I'll email you back.

Finished!

Just popping in to show off one of my projects that I actually finished!
WOO HOO!
I love that feeling.

I think that the last of the cool (cool enough for this anyway)
weather is over.
I'm glad that I got it finished in time to wear it once or twice.
A fun, easy and quick little scarf.

  • Cast on 42 on size 5's
  • just knit till it is the length you desire
  • stitch the ends together
  • I added a picot stitch edge on both sides.

Finished!

2 Cookies and A Cappuccino

Hey There!
How you all doin'?

Just a little self indulgent this evening....
I haven't really been taking care of things around the house like I should.
I find that by the time I get home from work I am exhausted. And of course we spend a lot
of my free time with mom and helping her with all of her life adjustments. Oh well! Such is
life!

When I do have a couple of minutes I find that it is so easy to pick up a
book or my knitting or crochet. It doesn't take to much thought and I find that
I just fall in to them. I had never used these tiny needles before. (size 5) They are so light and easy to carry. I'm having fun just doing plan knitting and this yarn is wonderful to. You don't even have to think or count.... just knit!  It's almost like therapy.  I picked the pretty yarn up at JoAnn's a week ago. It's called Serenity Garden Yarn. Its from the Deborah Norville collection.

Ya... that's all for now.

Yay! It's Friday!

It's been a quick week here. Lot's of good stuff!
Monday night it was book club and we discussed this book.

Major Pettigrew's Last Stand
by Helen Simonson
Loved it!  All the girls loved it too. Everyone gave it 2 Thumbs up.

Here's a quick "back-of-the-book" description:
Major Ernest Pettigrew (retired) leads a quiet life in the village of St. Mary, England, until his brother's death sparks an unexpected friendship with Mrs. Jasmina Ali, the Pakistani shopkeeper from the village. Drawn together by their shared love of literature and the loss of their respective spouses, the Major and Mrs. Ali soon find their friendship blossoming into something more. But will their relationship survive in a society that considers Ali a foreigner?

~*~
Wednesday night we had dinner here. Amazing food! Amazing service! I had the Butternut Enchilada. YUM!
~*~
Of course there is work everyday and in between all the fun I have picked up my needles and hooks again.

My newest enthusiasm... Granny Squares!
I'm not sure what it is about them but I love them!
Easy, portable... whatever!
Love doing them!

Hubs says he thinks I'm racking up a body count! LOL ....
I think he may be right.

I was working on this little project but I had to set it aside.
It's just to hot right now.
I'm calling this The Yummy Summer Sunshine Afghan.
It will go to Sweet Daughter later this fall.

 This one probably will to.
I'm calling it The Stained Glass Afghan. It reminds me of the old
stained glass windows that you used to see in big churches.

Anyway!
That's the week in review.

I LOVE the weekend!
