Tea and Lunch With Jane...

"You must drink tea with us tonight."
Jane Austen -- Sense & Sensibility

This didn't start out as a Jane Austen theme...

But that's how it ended up!

This is where it started... with these pretty little mugs from Home Goods.

Each lady will take one home filled with pretty macaroons.
So I used the colors in the mug to inspire me.

The round topper is a Rachel Ashwell table cloth from Target ... years ago.
The lavender is a flat sheet that I found at Home Goods.

My Grandmothers luncheon plates and my mom's silverware.
White doilies, soft yellow napkins and round, green place mates.

The books I added when I realized that they matched my colors so well.
Nothing matching...
but everything coordinating.

And of course after the books came the next most obvious addition
... our guest of honor!

“I could not tell whether you would be for some meat, or only a dish of tea, after your journey, or else I would have got something ready… . Perhaps you would like some tea, as soon as it can be got.” They both declared they should prefer it to anything.
–Mrs. Price to Fanny and William in Mansfield Park

Shall I pour or will you?

I'll be joining Marty for Table Top Tuesday!

Thanks for a nice testund. It is nice to use crocheted materials placemats. Self-cloths I almost always my cup of tea on a silvery saucer with a matching fabric. Have you seen the new film of Jane Eyre? Certainly not Jane Austen as you in this blog has as its theme, but I can recommend it. I wish you a wonderful week! Zinnia

I love this, Liz! I've been nearly absent from blogland the last three weeks because my daughter reserved ALL the Jane Austen movies from the library, and I've been watching those in my spare time!
It makes me sigh and smile all at once, and coming back to reality is NOT FUN.
Your little tea table is just delightful in every way.

Could you possibly tell me what edition those books are? I had them at one time and had to get rid of them when my husband became ill and we downsized to a more manageable home. I would love to be able to purchase them again, but haven't been able to locate them. I don't recall where I got them the first time, but thought if I knew what publisher or edition to look for, I might be able to locate some. Thank you so much for your help.
