A Mixed Bag...

It was a pretty fun weekend ...
Here's the rundown!

Friday night I did some experimenting with the new nail trends. This was my first try at a reverse, French Manicure. Now, seriously, I would not normally buy these colors. However, I had reward points at Ulta and so I made myself pick out 2 colors that I wouldn't buy under normal circumstances. I'm kind of tickled with the out come... I could totally try something more traditional like nude and black. This is not hard to do. I have the tutorial pinned on my Pinterest board labeled Pretty Peddies and Mannies if you are interested in knowing how.
Anyway, CraZy nails are the trend...

I went to the Arizona Antique show Saturday... Big Bummer! There just wasn't anything inspiring. I was looking for a big vintage sign for the kitchen or something that I just couldn't live without. At least something worth photographing...
Nada, ZIP, Zilch, and a big fat ZERO!

So I thought I would show you this sweet little Avon piece of porcelain that I picked up a few weekends ago. I love it.

Saturday night we went to dinner and a movie. Have you heard of Humble Pie?
If your in Phoenix you need to try it. Click here or on the logo to get the locations and menu.

A cute little place that is hoppin' busy and serves some awesome hand tossed, gourmet pizza.
YUMMY goodness! And not terribly expensive.
BONUS!

Plus, for a pizza joint... they serve pretty good coffee!

Then it was too the movie. We saw The Grey with Liam Neeson (I'm a big fan). It was pretty good. I thought that the plane crash was the most realistic action scene I have ever seen. Not that I have ever been in a plane crash, mind you... I'm just saying... this was scarey!! The rest of the movie was good as well. I would recommend it!

My book club is reading The Great Gatsby this month. So, since I just finished the read, I thought that I would watch the movie... my my! Has it really been almost 40 years since this came out? I had forgotten what a beautiful movie it was.
I did thoroughly enjoy it.

I am looking forward to the new version that is coming out.
What about you?

So that is just about it... Sunday evening is usually quiet for us...
getting ready for the work week and all.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

What a great weekend, Liz! I love your nails...I almost didn't see them behind the flowers! I love how people are doing the tips a different color from the nails. too...like a reverse French manicure. Light nails, dark tips. Just wish I had really long nails!!

The restaurant looks good...is it a chain?

Loved the Great Gatsby book and movie. I'd love to see the new version!

Enjoy your Sunday night! :)

Jane

Love the nail polish! I did something out of character for me the last time I was at the salon for the hair...I bought dark chocolate brown polish..??? Who knows why, but I love it. xo

I agree - it sounds like a great weekend - your nails turned out super-fun - great springish colors (would look great with your sunflower). :)

It has been years and years and years since I've read The Great Gatsby - it is on my reread list - maybe sooner than later if a movie is coming.

I am a huge fan of Liam but when we saw the preview for The Grey - Tim was not even slightly interested - survival movies do nothing for him. :(

I love Jay Gatsby, poor guy! He is one of my faves in all of literature. He just made a mistake in falling for vapid little Daisy.....so tragic.....

Sorry about the antiques show.... *Sadface*

Love your new nails, Liz! I think the colors are you! LOL! Sorry the antique show was not what you expected. I've been to a few like that, too. I understand your disappointment. You know if you weren't looking and you had no money to spend you'd find all kinds of wonderful things. Why is that? LOL.

Thanks so much for sharing your weekend. I love the nails, but I don't think it would look good on my stubby nails and fingers. I live right outside Phoenix, so I will surely be looking up Humble Pie and checking it out. We haven't lived here very long so we still have so many restaurants to try. I too and a fan of Liam Neeson's and hopefully will see that movie. But, I really love Leo so I will certainly be seeing the remake of the Great Gatsby.

How daring - I'd never have the nerve. But I really like it and I know that crazy nails ARE all the rage.

I'll have to get Mr OP to see The Grey!

Enjoy!

A. LOVE this nail trend and so thrilled you tried it. And such bold colors. LOVE it. You have me ready to run to the manicurist.
B. Bummer! I feel ya though. I've been hunting a big antique sign for my kitchen too! Let me know when and if you find one. *fingers crossed* for you.
C. Oooooo that sounds good. I'm very interested to see this crash you speak of.
D. I can not wait for The Great Gatsby this winter. I bought myself the audiobook (narrated by Tim Robbins) awhile back and plan to do a book to movie comparison closer to the film release date.
