Tea Time Tuesday!

It's Tea Time Tuesday again! A big THANK YOU to Barb at Grits and Glamour for hosting this lovely and elegant party!

The table I am sharing today was done by my friend Leanna, again, for the Ladies Tea and Luncheon done by our church's Women's Ministry. She took the Garden Tea theme to a whole new level. I mean really! Look at this incredible centerpiece!

It's like she brought a little patch of her flower bed. See the garden tools in the flower patch?

I love this sweet creamer!

Just Some Fun Projects

A couple of weeks ago Sweet Daughter was home for the weekend and we decided that one day would be devoted to crafting. I love days like that! I really believe that it is theraputic.

I made this little decoupage cottage sign and another project that I am truly to embarrassed to show you! : ) LOL Does anyone in blog land show their messes? I don't think so! Don't we all live in perfectly clean organized cottages? Snort!

Napco.... Is Two a Collection?

These are the cutest little munchkins ever! My Grandmother gave me this one when I was about 8 years old. It looks a lot like a M.I. Hummel but they were little dime store copycats in the late 50's early 60's. They are kind of hard to find and really pretty inexpensive.

I snapped this little precious up for only $12.00. Which is about the average price, although, I have seen them for as much as $25.00.

I was hoping to get you some history on the Napco Brand and Company. Here is some brief information. By the way... Napco is the same company that was famous for the charming head vases that are so very collectible now.

The NAPCO Company or National Potteries Corporation is located in Bedford, OH and began production of Porcelain and Glass in 1938. Ceramic pieces sold by Napco (National Potteries Corporation) are distinctive and popular again today. Since its prolific output of the 1950s and 1960s, Napco has held the interest of collectors because the ceramic items are consistently well-designed.

Owned and operated in the Midwest, Napco distributed a variety of collectibles, including decorative wall accessories, ashtrays, ceramic and wood house wares, floral arrangements, ceramic planters, decorative glass, novelty figurines, mugs, trivets, and Christmas ceramics. Napco used a wide array of marks for its head vases—some transfer marks and some paper labels. The paper labels feature various wording, such as: "A Napco Collection," "Napco originals by Giftware," "National Potteries Co., Cleveland, OH, Made in Japan," and "Napcoware, Import Japan." I hope this was interesting.

Joshua A Parable for Today

This book reminded me of The Shack. It is about a man named Joshua who comes to live in a small town and how he interacts with the Jews and with the Christians. It was a good book and what was different from The Shack was that it was about what Jesus would or might possibly think of our "religions". It was thought provoking and I would recommend it. It is a very quick and easy read. It is by no means new ...It was published in 1983. I remember seeing it in the bookstores at the the time.

Tea Time Tuesday!

Today is the first Tea Time Tuesday! As I Promised I am going to show you some of the other tables at the Ladies Tea Party and Luncheon.

This table was all black and white. I know that sounds really simple but this gal just did it to perfection!

The centerpiece consisted of all the accessories that you would wear to a black and white tea party. White gloves, white straw hat with black and white polka dot brim.

I think that she did a lovely job. Next week I will show you a garden table that was in full bloom!

Mother's Day 2009

UMMMMMoon Pies!

Oh my word! What memories do these sweet treats conjure up?!

They are kind of a rare item in Phoenix. I was at Cracker Barrel and they had them on sale. I also got the little lamp that is pictured below. Anyway, it has been a long time since I have had or seen one. They totally remind me of visiting my grandmother in Salem Missouri when I was a kid. My cousin (who was 2 years older than me), brother and I grew up mostly as city kids, but every summer we spent at least one week at Ma's house. There were only the 3 of us so she would have us all at the same time. I'm sure she would have to recover when we left. : ) My brother was awfully hard on grown ups. : ) My cousin and I would take our money and walk down to the corner store and pick out candy or soda and walk back to Ma's house. We'd sit on the back stoop and talk, talk, talk...little girl talk.

She lives in Kansas City now and I miss her. Maybe I'll call her tonight.....

Arrrrhhhug! I've been so bad about giving you the reviews of our Book Club selections. I think maybe because they have been so uninspiring??? EEEk! That doesn't sound nice does it?!

The ZooKeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman

I was really looking forward t reading this. I usually love anything historical about the holocaust. Unfortunately this story was a little flat. I enjoyed it because it was a true story that I have never heard before. However, it lacked a lot of detail in the lives of the characters. Way to much detail about animal breeding and actual zookeeping.

In short, I would say that I generally wouldn't recommend this read. Not a bad book by any means... just not one of my all time favorites. As usual that's just my personal opinion.

I love a great book! Do you have a must read?

Ladies Ministry Spring Tea and Luncheon

This is what I spent my Saturday doing.... Having tea with the ladies.... over 420 ladies that is...


The Spring Tea and Luncheon at North Phoenix Baptist Church has become such a huge event that even with over 420 ladies attending... We still had ladies on wait list. It is so much fun to be a host at this event.
As a Host you are responsible for decorating your table, and bringing whatever accessories you need. The church supplies the buffet (we have a full kitchen staff with chef) and the basics like lemon, sugar, salt and pepper, flatware, hot water, ice water, ice tea, and even cups and saucers if you need them. I know in blog land we can't imagine that, but not everyone has 10 cups and saucers, and the event is for everyone!
Friday night is set-up and then Saturday is Tea Time! There is usually an inspirational speaker. This year it was Pam Kanaly. She was awesome. She spoke about being a woman of influence and what your legacy will be. Your influence is your legacy and it is the only thing that we leave behind when we are gone. What is your influence?
Just look at all these tables. These ladies go all out. Every guest at this table got to take home a single tulip!

This gal drew inspiration from her Mother. Using pictures to tell how she had influenced her growing up.

Just had to have a close up of those roses!

This sweet lady made 5 of these gorgeous rose topiary trees.




Look closely at this table.... Yup! That's a fish tank with lilly pads all the way around it. But here's the kicker... the lilly pads were candles that the table guests got to take home!
