Perfect Christmas Shortbread

ummmmm... Butter!
It makes everything taste better.

Just at Christmas.  :)

Here is a perfect recipe that I always use.
  • 2 cups butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 2teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, stir in the vanilla.  Add flour and salt and mix well.  Roll out cookie dough and cut.  Bake in well heated oven for 10-12 minutes.

*  To prevent cookies from overspreading,  place cut cough on cookie sheets in the refrigerator for approx 30 minutes before baking.
Makes apx. 12 cookies

Enjoy!

Liz, those sound heavenly! I think I will make these. A few years ago I made something by Paula Deen that was similar but the recipe is lost. This one will be perfect. :)
