This post was originally going to be just a quick pop-in to say
"Hi and Happy Good Morning!"
But that changed when I was setting up my little photo shoot and thought that I would add my dad's old Minolta to the mix.... I was fussing and arranging the camera, toast and coffee, when I decided to pick the camera up and take a picture. Just to feel the click and then the film advance.
I love the feel of a fine old camera.
I held it to my face to look thru the viewfinder. The weight and feel of the camera was similar but yet so different than my 35mm DSL.
It actually still smells faintly of cigarette smoke.... Dad was serious about his smoking!
It was like pulling a trigger....
It was like pulling a trigger....
I had this overwhelming flood of memories of my dad and all the things that he was really good at. As I write this, I feel the heat in my eyes that you get before the tears come. I feel my throat close and my heart aches just a little as I recall and replay.
Photography was one of those many things that he was good at.
I have many wonderful Father's Days to remember and be grateful for.
Love the dad you have and enjoy Father's Day with him!

Very thoughtful post!
Awwwwwwwwwww *hug*
My dad passed away 2 years ago.
Now I'm feeling the eye sting.
I am blessed with a rather awesome husband/father to my daughter.
Lovely post.
Precious and loving post. I so miss my dad too. Hugs, Marty
SUch a sweet post. I hope you have a nice weekend! I miss my dad, too.
Completely wonderful memories! May you always cherish them.
How wonderful you have his camera. There will always be that empty spot and the lump in the throat, when Daddy should be there. Take care.
Aw, Liz! What a sweet post about your Daddy! I'm an only child and I was a Daddy's girl. He went to Heaven in 1997 and I still miss him every day.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Beautiful post to remember our Dads :)
Pictures are so vintage.
Hope you have a good weekend.
Blessing.
Truly heartfelt post, Liz. Isn't it amazing that something so loved by your father can be appreciated by you? A camera records images, despite the fact that they are always present in our minds. These snapshots are placed in an album, and, like a memory, needs to be opened to be viewed and relived. Thanks for sharing this lovely post in honour of Father's Day.

Really nice story. My dad passed away five years ago, but it will always be in my heart and thoughts. Due to all the wonderful fathers and our sons who are going to become great fathers too one day, thank you for this lovely reminder.
Blessings,
Vesna
Such a sweet pic, Liz! I love your dad's camera.:)
What a beautiful post and tribute to your dad.
My dad? I have a Father-in-love who has been a blessing for 21 years.
Yet, the One I turn to and cling to is my Heavenly Father,Who will never abandon or reject me.
Have a blessed week!
By the way, I love your new blog design!
What a beautiful tribute to your father - I loved the Dad I had ( for such a little while though )
