Sad, Sad Day

Friday morning I received an email stating that November 21st Gooseberries Tea Room will close their doors. This is very sad news. Gooseberries has been a favorite lunch site for years in the Central Phoenix area. It was so busy the day of The AZ Blogging Luncheon that I thought for sure they would survive. But with lagging sales, its closing was eminent.

All my best wishes to Debra and her husband as they move to the next chapter. You will still be able to visit them on line at

Gooseberries Tea Room and Boutique

Oh I just can't believe this! I am so very thankful that I was able to visit this quaint place. I was telling the fashionista that we would go there to celebrate once the semester was over. Boo hoo!

Hi Liz!!
Yes, that is such sad news, I remember going to it several years ago, maybe 10-15 years ago when it was at it's other locale, with dear friends, since moving to the East Vally that was my 1st time back. How very sad for them, hopefully they will be just as successful in the next chapter.I so enjoyed our little luncheon and look forward to many more luncheons!!! Maybe downtown at the Teeter House Tea Room is it located in historic Heritage square next to the Rosson House.
By the Science Museum.
Hugs,
jamie

WoW! It looked like it was doing well in the pictures. Sorry to hear another local owned business is closing. :(

I don't know the tearoom as I live far but I know the feeling of an old establishment closing down. There is that sadness and overwhelming feeling. WE had this small bakery back where we used to live and during highschool and early on in college me and my closest friends hang there (they have tables set up to hang and eat). So many stories and secrets shared there. It's already gone now, some new store is being put and when my friend told me that, it's like missing the place.

I am sorry to hear this...but I couldn't believe Abby Gardens closed in Mesa. That was a gorgeous place and food was fantastic. There are going to be no tea rooms left!

I am very sad for the owners and for you. So many of my favorite tearooms have closed in the South. It's such a shame! It's soooo hard to keep a business going in today's economy.
