Oh my word! What memories do these sweet treats conjure up?!
They are kind of a rare item in Phoenix. I was at Cracker Barrel and they had them on sale. I also got the little lamp that is pictured below. Anyway, it has been a long time since I have had or seen one. They totally remind me of visiting my grandmother in Salem Missouri when I was a kid. My cousin (who was 2 years older than me), brother and I grew up mostly as city kids, but every summer we spent at least one week at Ma's house. There were only the 3 of us so she would have us all at the same time. I'm sure she would have to recover when we left. : ) My brother was awfully hard on grown ups. : ) My cousin and I would take our money and walk down to the corner store and pick out candy or soda and walk back to Ma's house. We'd sit on the back stoop and talk, talk, talk...little girl talk.

Oh Liz!! My Mama Rose would have those at her house when we would visit!! Such great memories!!
We would pick up glass soda bottles, take them in and get the deposit money and walk down to the soda fountain and buy a comic book or some candy!!

Love that lamp! And I don't think I've ever had a moon pie!!! But I guess that's what you get for growing up in Queens! Enjoy your weekend!
You make me want a Moon Pie for breakfast!
I haven't had a Moon Pie in FOREVER! Fun memories you have about them. Your new lamp is great! I may have to go get a Moon Pie--somewhere! laurie

Oh, yes, moon pies! Lovely lamp, too.
We have Moon Pies in all the grocery stores here. When we were younger we'd have a Moon Pie and a dope (soda).
I need that lamp!
Oh forgot to tell ya I really like your blog page. Looks great!
It something I haven't had in years. We use to eat them all the time.
We to spent time in Missouri, south of Springfield, in a town my Grandparents had a farm, Buffalo. Their gone now but the memories live on.
What a fun post!
Hugs, Lisa
HI LIZ. WE STILL HAVE MOON PIES HERE IN MISSISSIPPI. WE CAN BUY THEM AT DOLLAR GENERAL AND WAL MART. SHOULD YOU FIND ANY, LET ME TELL YOU A TREAT TO ENJOY WITH THEM. TAKE PIE OUT OF WRAPPER, PLACE IT ON A SAUCER OR IN A SMALL BOWL, MICROWAVE UNTIL THE MARSHMALLOW STARTS TO RISE, TAKE IT OUT OF MW, PUT A SCOOP OF ICE CREAM ON IT. EAT IMMEDIATELY!!! DELISH!!!! WE LIKE THE VANILLA ONES LIKE THIS, BUT I'M SURE IT WOULD BE GOOD WITH THE CHOCOLATE ONES TOO.
GOD BLESS YOUR DAY! SURE ENJOY YOUR BLOG.
LIESA
Everytime I see moon pies at Cracker Barrel, I think about getting some of them, but I never do! I grew up on them:) I have that same little rooster lamp!
