It's Sunday!

My husband and I share some common addictions. One of them ...We neither one can go to the book store without looking at the bibles. It is bizarre, I know, but that is just the way we are.

Here's a few of them. I have started incorporating them into our decor. I hope that's not disrespectful or blasphemous. I just think that they are such beautiful books. I have even given a lot of them to Missionaries.

I always buy new ones and then go back to my favorite. The blue leather, NIV, with the thumb index, concordance, dictionary and maps. Honestly, aside from it being God's word, I love that old thing. It is like a favorite pair of old Levi 501's that are just the right shade of blue and so soft that they are almost torn, but not quite. Every time we read it in church, I put the date by the scripture so that I remember. Our pastor has some favorite times of the year to preach on certain scriptures. This month has been Family Month. So we have been in Corinthians a lot.

We're off to church. I hope you have a blessed Sunday. If you don't have a church home, I hope you find one. In these troubled times there is nothing more helpful than staying steeped in God's word and surrounded by a church family.

I think it's sweet that you and your husband head straight to the Bibles. I'm giggling out loud about decorating with them because I too have a little corner dedicated to some and always wonder if my Pastor's wife wonders why they never move when she comes by. LOL!! (I have a favorite old one that is used too) and your story about yours reminded me of Beth Moore's well loved bible with all of her post it notes!!! (she held it up at a conference I attended and it was SO FULL of post it's) I thoroughly enjoyed your post this morning!!!

Wonderful post today...I saw a sign in front of a church yesterday that read, "A Bible that is falling apart belongs to a person who isn't"...I love that!

I always hover over the Bibles also! And I have quite a collection of them at this point as well. I place them around with other things in the house too. I'm sure the Lord smiles down on that!
Be blessed on this peaceful Sunday afternoon.

I don't think that's a weird thing to collect at all. I always wonder why people get rid of them, unless it's a death in the family & they're cleaning out an estate.

I just love my different bibles. It's interesting to be able to go to the different versions too or even to see the notes people have in them and having them conveniently located is a really good idea!

Liz,
I don't think that collecting Bibles is any thing but Godly. I just wanted to say: God Bless You and Your Family. We were going to a Church that I really liked until my mother had a stroke 6 months ago. Now we need to be with her. It sure tests your marriage and relationship, we have no children and are used to going where and when we want. Much different now. She cannot get around anymore she lost her balance and we have to help her when she needs something. I don't mind helping her and I know I will be blessed. I ask God to help me everyday. Please say a prayer for my mother and my husband and me. I really enjoy your blog.
Thank you

God Bless,
Pam

I think it's great that you and hubby share something like that! We have a nice collection of Bibles also, but my favorite one is the one I use every day and have for the past 30. Thanks for the pictures!
