Little Red Chair

This is a little, old chair that we have had on our minuscule front porch forever. It is cute and tiny, but dull and bland.  So I thought that our front door needed a pop of color. 

So I painted it red!

I'm so glad I did! Since I took this picture I have added some fall decor and it looks great with the red. I'll show you some pictures of that later. But this is what it looked like right after.

The Quite Man

What do you get when a hot, red head plays the leading lady and a true, man's man plays the romantic lead?

Two Oscars and Eight nominations! That's what!

One of the first movies actually to be filmed on-site and not on a Hollywood set, John Ford's The Quite Man was not a wanted project by the Movie Giants. He had to cut a deal to make a John Wayne Western first and then was given the financing to make The Quiet Man. It was a huge success, the audiences and critics loved it!

Set in western Ireland and centered in the village of Cong, Technicolor never looked better!

John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara are a great movie match.
Lots of on-screen chemistry here. John Wayne made it a habit of working with actors that he liked. They made several movies together where they were a couple.

Lots of sweet cottages and beautiful Irish scenery.
A must see for the true romantic. I watched this AGAIN and I have to add it 
to my list of favs!

Happy Anniversary

This is my "dairy slab".
I have wanted one FOREVER! But to find a real one is... well, impossible! And if you do, it is literally thousands of dollars.

My husband, who I married 6 years ago today, knew that I wanted one. So for Mother's Day this year, that sweet man had this made. Can you believe that? He actually contracted a potter to make it for me.

I tell him I love him about 10 times a day. Probably too many times. But how many days go by that I don't tell him that I know that I am the luckiest woman in the world to have him? I was not always this blessed. I have a habit of taking his generous spirit for granted. I feel safe to assume he will always be here for me. He makes me feel that it is okay to be that comfortable.

I love you honey! I would marry you again in a heartbeat.
I am THE luckiest woman in the world to have you!

Yet ANOTHER New Coffee Maker!

How long does your coffee maker last? It seems like if we get 18 months we're doing great! Have they stopped making them to last? My parents have an old Mr. Coffee that is something like 10 years old! And they are MAJOR coffee drinkers. Anyway! We have a new Cuisinart. So far, I am happy with it. I like the 10 cup thermal carafe (which we had, before but was only 8cups) You don't have to worry about the coffee staying hot for hours.

A new coffee maker justifies a new coffee cup. Yes?

I picked this one up at Anthropologie.

And Now It's Blue

This wasn't the only thing that I got done this weekend. I got some other painting done, went shopping, cleaned the house, pruned the roses, weeded the garden, got my nails done, went to church, and now... well I'm getting settled in for Mad Men! Love that show!
